Terms of Service

ToolPeer is a peer-to-peer marketplace that connects people who own tools with people who want to hire them. ToolPeer is not the owner, seller or hirer of any tool listed on the platform. By creating an account you accept these terms.

• You must be 18 or over and give accurate account details.
• Lenders confirm they own the tool, that it is safe to use and that it is described honestly.
• Renters must use tools only for their intended purpose and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
• Both parties must turn up at the agreed times and communicate through ToolPeer messages.
• You are responsible for any licence, permit or training a tool legally requires.

• A booking is confirmed once the lender accepts the request.
• Prices are per day and shown before you book, including any consumables or bundles.
• ToolPeer charges a 12% commission on each booking; the lender receives the rest.
• A security deposit may be requested by the lender and is returned once the tool comes back undamaged.
• Cancellations should be made as early as possible so the other party can re-plan.

• Renters must report damage or a fault immediately and stop using the tool.
• Lenders should photograph the tool's condition before and after every hire.
• Where the parties cannot agree, ToolPeer may review the messages, photos and checklists and make a decision on the deposit.
• Deliberate damage, theft or misuse may be reported to the police.

• Weapons, or tools modified to be used as weapons.
• Tools with removed or defeated safety guards or interlocks.
• Electrical tools that are visibly damaged, or high-risk mains tools without a valid PAT certificate.
• Stolen goods, counterfeit tools, or anything you do not own.
• Gas, pyrotechnic or chemical equipment that requires a licence you do not hold.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, the Community Standards or the Safety Guidelines — including repeated no-shows, dishonest listings, harassment, fraud or unsafe behaviour.

ToolPeer provides the platform, not the tools. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ToolPeer is not liable for injury, loss or damage arising from the condition or use of a tool hired through the platform. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
